Plans have been submitted to Slough Borough Council for a new long-stay car park near Heathrow Airport, offering more than 1,000 parking spaces. The proposed facility, located near the Colnbrook By-Pass and adjacent to Pippins Park, aims to provide a convenient 'Meet and Greet' parking service for Heathrow travelers. If approved, the car park will be managed by Maple Parking Ltd, a company specializing in airport parking services.
The parking facility will be designed to handle more than 1,000 vehicles, with a total of 1,062 spaces available. However, the car park will not be open to the general public. Instead, it will operate exclusively through a team of professional drivers employed by Maple Parking. Customers will drop off their vehicles directly at the airport terminal, where a driver will take the car to the long-stay parking site. Upon returning from their trip, passengers can call the Maple Parking team to have their vehicle delivered back to the terminal, allowing for a smooth transition home.
According to the design and access statement submitted as part of the application, the site is expected to generate approximately 250 round trips daily between the airport and the parking facility. Since customers won’t be driving directly to the site, the professional drivers will manage all vehicle movements.
The land in question, while currently unused, does fall within a flood-risk area, which could potentially impact the development plans. A detailed flood risk assessment is still pending and will need to be submitted to the council as part of the approval process. The outcome of this assessment will play a critical role in determining whether the project can move forward.
If the plans are approved, the car park will provide much-needed long-stay parking capacity for Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world, and offer an efficient parking solution for passengers seeking convenience and ease of access.
