Stansted Airport offers several parking options for those needing short-term parking. Whether you’re picking someone up, dropping off, or handling a quick errand, understanding the cost of 1-hour parking at Stansted Airport can help you choose the best option. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the 1-hour parking rates and options available.

1. Stansted Short Stay Car Park

The Short Stay Car Park is ideal for quick stops, as it’s located close to the terminal, making it convenient for dropping off or picking up passengers. There are several zones in the Short Stay Car Park—Blue, Orange, and Green—each offering proximity and ease of access.

• Cost for 1 Hour: £9.50
• Distance to Terminal: A short walk from the terminal entrance
• Best For: Quick stops, meeting arrivals, or dropping off passengers within easy walking distance of the terminal.

2. Stansted Meet & Greet Parking

If convenience is your top priority, Meet & Greet parking at Stansted is another option. While it’s pricier than standard short-stay parking, it provides a premium experience. You can pull up directly outside the terminal, hand over your keys to a driver, and leave.

• Cost for 1 Hour: £15.00
• Distance to Terminal: Located right at the terminal, so no walking required.
• Best For: Travelers who want an ultra-convenient drop-off or pick-up experience, especially when traveling with large luggage or small children.

3. Stansted Mid Stay Car Park

The Mid Stay Car Park is an option for slightly longer short stays, such as when meeting someone with a delayed arrival or if you need to wait a bit longer. It’s located a short shuttle ride away from the terminal, so it’s not as convenient as Short Stay but offers more affordable pricing.

• Cost for 1 Hour: £5.00 (if staying up to 1 hour, though prices may increase slightly if staying longer)
• Shuttle Time: 5 minutes, with buses running every 10 minutes
• Best For: Travelers on a budget who don’t mind a quick shuttle ride

4. Stansted Free Pick-Up and Drop-Off Zone

For the most budget-friendly option, Stansted offers a Free Drop-Off Zone located in the Mid Stay car park, where you can park free for up to 60 minutes. It’s a bit further from the terminal, requiring a shuttle ride, but it’s an excellent choice for those who want to save on parking fees entirely.

• Cost for 1 Hour: Free (for up to 60 minutes)
• Distance to Terminal: 5 minutes by shuttle
• Best For: Cost-conscious travelers who don’t mind a quick shuttle ride to meet or drop off passengers.

5. Blue Badge Parking at Stansted

For travelers with disabilities, Blue Badge parking spaces are available at Stansted Airport with accessible facilities, located close to terminal entrances in both the Short Stay and Mid Stay car parks.

• Cost for 1 Hour: £9.50 in Short Stay, £5.00 in Mid Stay
• Accessibility: Accessible spaces with wheelchair access and assistance services available

Tips for Choosing the Right Parking Option

1. Pre-Book: Booking in advance often secures better rates, even for short stays.
2. Plan for Delays: Check flight schedules to avoid overstaying your parking time if meeting someone arriving.
3. Compare Zones: If you’re comfortable with a shuttle ride, opting for Mid Stay or Free Drop-Off zones can save on costs.

Conclusion

Choosing the right 1-hour parking at Stansted Airport depends on your budget and proximity preferences. For the closest access, Short Stay and Meet & Greet offer convenience, while the Mid Stay and Free Drop-Off Zone are ideal for budget-conscious travelers willing to use the shuttle. By comparing the options and booking in advance, you can make your Stansted Airport parking experience smooth and affordable.
