If you're planning a trip that involves flying, you'll want to consider how you'll get to the airport and park your car. Many travellers assume that airport parking is expensive, but there are actually many ways to find affordable deals. Here are six tips to help you save money on airport parking in the UK:

On-site parking can be cheaper than off-site. While it's generally true that off-site parking is cheaper, many airports now offer a 'budget' parking option to compete with off-site options.

Always plan in advance and book your parking spot ahead of time. Not only will this guarantee you a spot, but it's also considerably cheaper. Price comparison sites such as holidayextras.co.uk or airport-parking-shop.co.uk are great places to start.

Self-park or meet-and-greet parking? With most on-site and some off-site car parks, you can self-park and keep hold of your keys. Alternatively, you can opt for meet-and-greet parking where staff park your car for you. Weigh the peace of mind vs. the price difference.

Consider hotel-package parking as an alternative. It's unlikely to be cheaper than just parking your car, but it may be a good option if you're also looking for accommodation.

Other cheap alternatives to airport parking include parking in someone's driveway or garage. However, this option may not be considerably cheaper than traditional airport parking, and there are no security guarantees.

Be aware of additional fees for early or late collection of your car. Check the small print for any grace periods and be prepared for unexpected delays. It's also worth checking how frequent the parking transfer service is, especially if your flight is early in the morning or late at night.

By following these tips, you'll be able to find affordable airport parking and save money on your next trip
