Travelers heading to Stansted Airport often seek convenient and affordable options for dropping off or picking up passengers. While many UK airports offer a variety of drop-off options, finding out if there’s free set-down parking at Stansted Airport can save time and money. Here, we’ll look at the set-down parking facilities, costs, and alternatives for a smooth airport experience.

Set-Down Parking Options at Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport currently does not offer free set-down parking directly outside the terminal. Instead, passengers are directed to dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones, each with specific fees and regulations.

1. Express Set-Down Area

The Express Set-Down area, located right outside the terminal, is the closest option for quick drop-offs. While convenient, it comes with a charge. The fees for using the Express Set-Down area are as follows:

• £7 for the first 15 minutes
• £25 for 15 to 30 minutes

This area is ideal if you’re dropping off passengers who need quick access to the terminal, but it’s worth noting that costs can add up if you stay beyond 15 minutes.

2. Free Set-Down Parking at Mid-Stay Car Park

Stansted offers a free set-down option within the Mid-Stay Car Park. From this location, passengers can take a free shuttle bus to the terminal. The Mid-Stay Car Park is the best choice for those who prefer a cost-effective option and don’t mind the short shuttle ride.

• Location: Mid-Stay Car Park
• Cost: Free for up to 1 hour
• Transport to Terminal: Free shuttle bus, approximately a 5-minute ride

To use this service, simply drive into the Mid-Stay Car Park, drop off or pick up passengers, and leave within the 1-hour free period. Exceeding the 1-hour limit may result in additional charges.

3. Short-Stay Car Park

The Short-Stay Car Park is another alternative for set-down parking. Although this option isn’t free, it’s closer than the Mid-Stay Car Park and also allows for a quick drop-off or pick-up.

• Cost: £10 for up to 30 minutes
• Location: Short walk from the terminal

The Short-Stay Car Park is recommended for those who prefer a convenient option closer to the terminal but at a lower cost than the Express Set-Down area.
