Manchester Airport has issued an important update for passengers traveling over the next few weeks, as several airlines will be relocating from Terminals 1 and 3 to the newly renovated Terminal 2. This change is part of the airport’s ongoing £1.3 billion transformation project, which aims to enhance passenger experience and modernize its facilities.
Travellers are advised to double-check and amend any existing lounge or parking reservations to avoid confusion during their trip. These changes will be taking place between October 27 and November 13, with 11 airlines confirmed to make the switch.
The airport is undergoing a significant redevelopment, which will ultimately lead to the closure of Terminal 1 and a reduction in airlines operating from Terminal 3. The goal is to make Terminal 2 the central hub of Manchester Airport, providing an improved travel experience for all passengers.
The first phase of Terminal 2’s revamp was completed in 2021, with the full transformation expected to be finished by 2025. When the entire terminal is open next year, travelers can expect a host of new amenities, including 22 retail, bar, and restaurant units.
Among these new additions will be Manchester Airport’s first Wetherspoons, a Greggs, and a Fever-Tree cocktail and champagne bar. The terminal will also feature luxury retailers such as Pandora and Chanel, the latter opening its first standalone airport makeup and skincare boutique.
For food lovers, Terminal 2 will host a massive 472-seater food hall, the Great Northern Market, offering a variety of international street food options. Seven street food kitchens will be available, including one from the popular Manchester dessert brand Gooey.
Other well-known high street brands like LEGO, WH Smith, and Boots will also have outlets in the new terminal, ensuring a wide range of shopping and dining options for travelers.
With these changes in place, Manchester Airport is reminding passengers to review their bookings. Any necessary amendments to parking can be made through the airport's official website, while lounge bookings can also be updated online. This ensures that travelers won’t encounter any issues on their day of travel.
As the transformation progresses, the airport promises to deliver a more modern, efficient, and enjoyable experience for all passengers flying in and out of Manchester.
